Yep I skated Mt Eden once, couldn't believe the size of it, at the time it was huge, big tranny that was pretty good for it's time. I think I got about 2/3 the way up, scared the shit out of me. I might have been about 12 or 13, was maybe '76 or '77, can't remember exactly. Do you know when the photo was taken Andy?

I used to skate this ramp in Poronui Street, Mt Eden in the mid to late eighties, before it got torn down.. Credit to the guys who got enough speed to go that high, on those old boards

I also remember another quarter pipe at the end of Mt Eden Road, near the Mount Roskill library. But that was back in the early eighties

just saw you guys talking about poronui ramp , that ramp was instagated by my self and my best friend at the time alistair kirk. alistairs father worked at mt eden council as a town planner and alistair lived in the huge two story house directly opposite the park and kindy garden.....every weekend me and the crew would erect a ramp up against the tree by the old witches hat and every weekend the council would tear it down, so alistairs dad got together and hit up henderson and pollard the timber company in mt eden and they built the poronui ramp for us......we skated it hard for years and victor viscovich was one of our local mt eden crew , so the ramp got a hammerring at the time , i remember it was one of the hairest ramps of its time , we would pull frontside and backside airs 2ft of the top no worries, our crew were me, tony armstrong ,alistair kirk , james mc ardle, glen and brian cole , danny drader , danny mc dowell then later victor viscovich and his sister tania.......and the ramp at the end of mt eden road was also built by the same company in the three kings council park........ man that poronui ramp got sessioned bigtime with the kroozers , edwards team .....those were the days..........much respect . heres the long story...............www.myspace.com/oldstyleskates

yeah that ramp was a blast .how was the push up to it?insane !10 good skoots to get air .every thing had to be spot on as you approached it .ten skoots and a second to get your stance as you experience the vertil rush ! awesome bit of mt-eden handy work ,. but some days youd rock up and realize todays not the day to go off on this ramp as you get pitched backwards onto ya hip.lol it had no coping so i made one out of wood .was easier to slam the tail for the old jerry valdez trick,the tail block. yeah can youbelieve that ,no coping .
